My Foundation Lust List

Ironic isn’t it, that when my skin is finally behaving itself, I’m lusting after foundations. As most of you know by now, I don’t even wear foundation daily so an average 30ml bottle/tube of foundation lasts me for ages (well, not really. It expires and then I have to throw it out.). But after trying out the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation, and seeing how beautifully it photographed, I found myself lusting after it. Then I tried out another foundation and loved it’s texture. Then I read about two other foundations…. And now I’m totally confused.

Though I don’t “need” a new foundation, I certainly do “want” one of these…..Here’s my foundation lust list…..

My foundation lust list - YSL, Guerlain, Giorgio Armani, Estee Lauder, Burberry

I tried to list down these foundations in order of preference but then, they all seem so appealing, that there was no order of preference. Here they are in alphabetic order…

Burberry Fresh Glow Foundation – £ 35

Burberry Fresh Glow Foundation
The newest kid on the block, the words “Fresh” and “Glow” in this foundation’s name are truly very appealing. I love foundations that give a dewy, radiant look (like Lancome Teint Miracle) but at the same time, I also want the coverage to be medium buildable to full. The Burberry Fresh Glow foundation has “a lightweight, moisturising formula” that gives skin “a fresh, youthful glow and a no-makeup sensation.” Medium satin coverage and natural-looking finish….what’s not to love.

Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation – ₹2790

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation
This is the foundation that I’ve been wearing in recent pictures. I got three sample sachets when I bought the Estee Lauder Double Wear Lipstick in Stay Rose. This foundation photographs beautifully, doesn’t give a matte look (if you don’t powder it) and the shade Cashew is a made-for-me-perfect shade. Is it any wonder that I’ve been lusting after it?

Estée Lauder Perfectionist Youth Infusing Makeup – $45

Estee Lauder Perfectionist Youth Infusing Makeup
Sigh. Let’s admit it, I’m not getting any younger. I’m exactly mid-30s and “anti-aging” should be a key word even while buying makeup. Right? The Estée Lauder Perfectionist foundation “brightens, perfects and re-ignites the look of radiance. Infused with Perfectionist serum technology, it is oil-free and gives medium to full coverage with a satin finish.“.

Guerlain Tenue De Perfection  – ₹ 3950

Guerlain Tenue de Perfection
I tried this foundation at Parcos last week and I loved it’s texture and finish. Apparently, it’s “Timeproof Complex blends into the skin for ultimate correction, comfort and flawlessly sleek wear.” The Guerlain Tenue de Perfection gives a velvet finish which looks natural and not a harsh matte.

YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat – ₹3600

YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat
YSL’s Touche Eclat is perhaps the most famous product from this brand. I’m already a huge fan of the Vernis a Levres Glossy Stains (reviewed here and here), their fragrances like Cinéma (reviewed here) so of course when I had heard about the launch of the Touche Eclat foundation, I was very tempted to buy it. Exercising tremendous will power, I resisted but now, it’s made it’s way into my lust list.

YSL Fusion Ink Foundation – $60

YSL Fusion Ink Foundation
With packaging identical to that of my beloved Glossy Stains and a similar applicator too, how can anyone resist this foundation? “Feels like a feather, wears like an ink. 24 hours soft-matte perfection,” I really want to try this foundation out. But the YSL counter closest to me, the one at Shoppers’ Stop, Bandra, has now shut and the other counters are wayyyyy to far for me.

I thought if I write about all these foundations, I might be able to come to a decision regarding which one to buy. But I’m still equally confused. What do you think? Which one should I buy? Have you tried any one of these? Which is your favourite high-end foundation? Do let me know in the comments below.

PS – New contest coming up tomorrow morning…..

  3. The EL Perfectionist foundation hadn’t launched in India yet. And neither has YSL Fusion Ink, not Burberry Fresh Glow :(.
I have the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua but that has a light coverage. I want something that gives more coverage.
