Colorbar Eyeshadow Stick & Diamond Shine Lip Gloss Review

There are brands that somehow never manage to feature on your makeup radar. There is no particular reason for that….it just happens and I’m sure there are several girls who would agree with me on this. Colorbar is one such brand and the only product that I have used from this brand is it’s nail polish remover which is really fabulous. Recently, however, I tried out the Colorbar Eyeshadow Stick and the Diamond Shine Lipgloss. Read on to know my views on these two products….

About the Colorbar All Day Waterproof Eyeshadow Stick

Colorbar Eyeshadow Stick & Diamond Shine Lip Gloss Review

“This ultra-modern eye-shadow stick glides like velvet, has feather light application and lasts for 8 hours without creasing, flaking or fading! Applying perfect eye-shadow will no longer be a tricky job with ColorBar All Day Waterproof Eyeshadow Stick. Fall in love with this blendable and highly pigmented do-it-all eye-shadow stick, which also doubles up as eyeliner. Sharpen the tip with a detachable sharpener (attached at the back of the stick) for precise application and use it to shade, define, smoke-up and highlights. Its velvet powdery, lightweight texture is smudge proof and doesn’t non-transfer on the upper eyelid.”

The Colorbar Eyeshadow Stick comes in a glossy black twist-up pen-like packaging. The shade is depicted as a band on the lower part of the “pen” and that’s the part that houses the detachable sharpener. I love eyeshadow crayons because they are so easy to apply and to carry around. The Colorbar Eyeshadow Stick has  a velvety texture with a powder finish. It sets pretty fast and you need to blend it or smudge it pretty fast because once it sets, it doesn’t really budge. It is smooth in texture and glides onto the eyelids without any tugging but is not as creamy as come of the other eye crayons I have used.

It also does live up to it’s claims of being waterproof and you need an oil-based cleanser or a makeup-remover to get it off the eyes. The crayon has good pigmentation and colour payoff. It lasted well on me for around 6 hours after which it faded slightly. Though it is waterproof and longlasting, it does come off if you rub hard. I tried it on the hand swatch but I doubt anybody would rub their eyes so hard.

The shade Mulberry is a beautiful dark aubergine that would look great on all skintones. It isn’t a bright colour but has a deep, smokey quality that looks sultry and adds a bit of colour to the eyes without looking too bright. It is a great shade for evening wear and when you want a variant on the smokey eye.

About the Colorbar Diamond Shine Lipgloss

“A gorgeous, high shine lipgloss that wears like a feather and envelopes your lips with rich, intense colour in just one stroke. Packed with luxe shimmer, this soft, highly pigmented gloss adheres perfectly and glides on flawlessly to make your lips shine like diamonds. Enriched with Vitamin E and comforting oils, it fits the lip care needs of every woman perfectly. “

The Colorbar Diamond Shine Lipgloss comes in a standard, transparent lipgloss tube with a silver cap. The transparent tube shows the shade within and the cap houses the flocked paddle applicator (like a flattened oval). The lipgloss is nicely pigmented and is loaded with micro-shimmers that give a dazzling look. Thankfully there are no chunky glitters that feel gritty.

The shade “Nude Glow” is a bit of a misnomer since the shade is is not nude, but a light pink. On my pigmented lips, it looks almost like a milky but shimmery pink. This isn’t a shade that I can wear by itself. It needs a lot of support from the eye and cheek makeup to look good on my skintone. However, what I love about glosses is the way they can change the look of a lipstick and Nude Glow looks lovely when layered over medium or darker lipsticks.

The wear time is comparable to other lip glosses and this one lasted on me for around 4 hours with just a coffee in between. With snacks, it didn’t last as long especially since the crumbs got stuck onto the gloss and while removing them, the gloss came off too. That didn’t really bother me much and to be honest, I have always prefered glossy and satin textures to matte lips. This shimmery gloss looks really lovely as you can see in the picture….

My Views

Colorbar Eyeshadow Stick & Diamond Shine Lip Gloss Review

The Colorbar Eyeshadow Stick has a nice velvety texture and some really lovely shades and lasts a good amount of time as well. However,  I feel that at ₹850, it is priced a bit on the higher side. One of the most annoying things about eyeshadow crayons, especially the twist up ones,  is that the tip tends become rounded. The Colorbar Eyeshadow Stick has an advantage here because it comes with a detachable sharpener that keeps the tip nice and pointy.

The Colorbar Diamond Shine Lipgloss is a very pretty shimmery lipgloss that doesn’t feel heavy or sticky on the lips. I feel it’s high time that mattes take a backseat now, after being in the limelight for so many seasons, and let glosses take over now. Priced at ₹675, it is quite reasonably priced for a gloss and has some pretty shades of which Lucent Brown is one I’m eager to try.
