The last ten days have been extremely draining for me – a combination of home and kids related stuff, house guests, maid on leave and finally, me being unwell. If you have seen my Instagram stories, you would know that I still have a very bad cold which has given me an almost permanent headache because of which neither have I been able to blog, nor have I been able to shoot a video for this week.
Anyway, coming back to today’s post, I am finally going to review two lipsticks that I have been absolutely LOVING! These are two shades of The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid – Goa Magnolia and Nairobi Camellia.
Last month, The Body Shop launched a new range of makeup that included the Down To Earth Eye Palette (Brown reviewed here), the Matte Lip Liquid lipsticks as well as the Fresh Nude Cushion Foundations.
About The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid
Price ₹695 / 8ml
“Introducing this season’s hottest lip colour trend, Matte Lip Liquid. Specially formulated to glide on effortlessly like a gloss and set with the rich creamy colour and velvety touch of matte lipstick. Available in 12 shades, our new liquid lipstick is long-lasting, lightweight and lusciously soft. And like all our cruelty-free makeup, it’s vegetarian too. No gluten. No carmine. “
The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid comes in a sleek tube with a matte black cap that houses a doe-foot applicator. The colour of the tube matches the shade inside so it is easy to identify the shades if you have more than one of these. Also, the name of the lipstick is printed on the tube itself in a very legible font making it even easier to identify the shades.
These Matte Lip Liquids have a really soft, creamy, mousse-like texture and feel very cushiony while applying. These two shades are quite opaque but need a couple of swipes to give complete coverage. However, these don’t have a totally dry, matte finish – and thankfully too since I am not too find of powder matte finishes. The finish of these Matte Lip Liquids is velvety and weightless and they don’t feel dry on the lips at all. These aren’t transfer-proof either and even after they settle down, they do transfer slightly onto objects.
These last for around 4-5 hours and can survive a coffee and a light snack. However, they can’t take on a complete meal.
There are twelve shades in The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquids, each of which is named after a combination of a city and a flower. I have two shades – Nairobi Camellia and Goa Magnolia.
The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid Nairobi Camellia
Nairobi Camellia is a beautiful dusty-rose colour that would be the perfect MLBB for medium to tan skin tones. It goes well with all kinds of eye looks and is a great “wear-anywhere” kind of shade. This is the one I have been wearing most frequently these days for all my school meetings etc since it is such a muted, sober colour.
The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid Goa Magnolia
Goa Magnolia is a gorgeous berry pink that looks unique and fresh. It reminds me of bougainvilleas that are currently in full bloom everywhere. The shade is quite unique and bright making it perfect for summer. It would look good on all skin tones and it instantly brightens up the face.
Why do I LOVE The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquids????
- They are among the most affordable liquid lipsticks in India
- They have a beautiful, soft, mousse-like texture and velvety finish.
- They don’t dry out my lips.
- They are 100% vegetarian.
